Hello everyone and welcome back to the Matthew Schreiner Podcast. I would like to apologise for the lack of a video on Thursday. I believe I had an idea for doing one on Saint Joseph. However, I believe I did not think about it until Friday, and so. As welll I would like to apologise for the fact that this video has been uploaded on Tuesday. But, regardless, this video will partially discuss St Joseph, as well as Mary. May is often considered the Month of Mary. I believe as well as October, which is most especially considered Rosary Month.

May 1st is the feast of St. Joseph the Worker, which is why in many countries, May 1st is their Labor Day. Such as in France and other europeon countries. I had thought about doing a video on Thursday or Friday about the Feast of St. Joseph the worked, altought I believe the idea did not come to me until Friday. St. Joseph has two major feast dates, The Feast of St. Joseph, which takes place on March 29th. And then this more minor feast date, the Feast of St. Joseph the Worker. As well, he is also apart of the feast of the Holy Family, which celebrates Jesus, Mary and Joseph.

Side note, St. Joseph is also known as the Patron of the Universal Church. Which is important in this current time. I believe the Conclave begins tommorow, Wednesday, May the 7th. The Conclave is the name for the Election where the Cardinals vote for the next pope. Conclave comes from the Latin meaning, "with key", because the Cardinals are locked into the Sistene Chapel. This was because back in a prior election from many years ago the cardinals took a long time, and so the people finally locked the cardinals into the chapel. Besides that, no one besides the Cardinal and a few other masters of ceremonies and other exclusive clergy, all others, are kicked out, to the words: "Extra Omnes!", which is proclaimed by the Papal Master of Ceremonies. So in this time, we should pray for Saint Joseph's Intercession for the church in this time of voting and transition. Holy Mary, Mother of God, Pray for Us. Saints Peter and Paul, Pray for Us. Saint Joseph, Patron of the Universal Church, Pray for Us.

St. Joseph deserves a little bit of discussion, first because he was the spouse of the Blessed Virgin, which as I mentioned before, May is a month dedicated to Her. We will talk about Mary. But I do want to give brief mention to Joseph. We celebrate his major feast date in March, on March 19th. Saint Joseph is the Foster Father of Christ. Joseph was betrothed to Mary at the time the Angel Gabriel appeared to her. At the time that Joseph learned what was said to Mary, he considered leaving her quitely. And to Joseph as well an angel appeared and warned him not to leave Mary, but rather stay with her and care for this child of hers. We are given to understand that he did take care of this child, and we also believe that he taught Jesus in the trade of Carpentry, as Joseph was also a carpenter, and Jesus was also a carpenter too.

Joseph serves as an example for all Christian men. First of all, an example of following God's will. Second, also living a chaste and holy life, Joseph is by many ways rembered as a chaste and holy man. And besides that, he is also remembered for his quite service of God. As we have no lines of words from him in the gospel accounts. But he also stands as an example for Christian Fathers. For biological fathers, and even spiritual, and adopted fathers.

Now, let's get to Mary. Mary of course is veyr important to us as Catholics. Mary is important because of her relationship to Christ. She is very important because she is the mother of God. The woman whom God chose to give "the word flesh". I heard someone say that when the angel greated her, "Hail Full of Grace", this was the first time that an angel gave veneration to a human. That was, to Mary. Mary was sinless, as we believe, truly then full of grace.

Mary is very important for the plan of salvation. She was the person whom God chose. And more than that, she also willingly gave her consent to God's plan. She stands as an example for us.

While Mary was sinless, she still stands to be an example for us, we can hope to do just what she did. Follow God's plan.

Above all, we also see how God rewarded Mary. Mary was a faithful servant of God, and at the end of her life, she was assumed, taken body and soul up into Heaven. As well we also believe that she was crowned as queen of Heaven, as Christ is our King, and queens in the ancient world would have been the mother of the king, such as the queen mother in England. Which is why in many places an image or statue of the Blessed Virgin is often crowned during May.

More than that, we can look at Mary as not only an example, but also as a person to whom we can see as a spiritual guider. She can lead us to Christ, just as she led the servers at the wedding of Cana to Jesus. Mary can lead us to Christ, we can also ask for here intercession, and her guidance. She was the fount from which Christ came forth into the world, and the fount for which Christ can be brought forth to us. Many saints bear witness to this. Mary never leads us to herself, but rather she brings us to Christ.

In this month, let us ask Mary, "Lead me to Christ!". Bring me to the son whom you brought into our world. Bring me to heaven to live with you, and the son whom you cherished within your arms.

In this month of May, let us remember Mary.
