AI Vacuums and Shop Class

I decided that today's video would be less theological based. I was going to wait to Friday to talk about this, do something like Trent Horn's Free For all Friday, but I remembered I wanted to talk more about Holy Week & Palm Sunday on Friday. Anyways, this morning on the radio, on some news radion station, they were talking about AI being implemented into household appliances. Including, vacuums. Yes, AI in a vacuum! Giving features that allow you to answer calls and things like that. I don't quite understand the point of adding cell phone or AI features to a vacuum. Besides, "we can, and we will". There was also another AI fridge, that based on what you have in your fridge it can give you recipe suggestions.

Anyways, after that we were listening to "60's Gold" on SiriusXM. Which, previously featured Cardinal Timothy Dolan of the Archdiocese of New York. Cardinal Dolan stars on another channel on SiriusXM, which is a Catholic Channel. I actually heard part of Dolan's time on the channel, where he played some songs and talked about them. But, they were talking about things that are no longer done in school. Two of them were: Home Economics and Shop Classes, and Latin.

And I believe that the first two especially should be brought back. Hom-ec, as it was often called, was a course that taught high school students, how to do things they would actually need for being an adult. From household chores, especially cooking, to money things, like balancing a check book. I think especially cooking. I'm not a big fan of these meal service things. I think it is important for people to have home-cooked meals. Which is why the AI Fridge, is kind of ok, well at least the recipe thing. I still prefer physical cook-books, or recipes on the back of boxes. I have used online recipes, too.

I believe these are classes that should be brought back. People should have these skills. Men and women should have skills in running a home, as well as in fixing and repairing things. This is something we have lost.

By the way, the photo for today's blog post was just one of the first images I saw when I searched "AI". I did a video a while back about AI, and I will make more in the future. My opinion on AI is negative, I think there is some good things AI could be used for. But ultimately, I don't like the isea of it replacing human thought. Writing papers, doing research, all that. Replacing the work and hand of humans. Especially in interactions.
