Today is the feast of Saint Patrick, a feast day that always happens to take place during Lent. Last year, it even fell on a Friday in Lent. Last year at this time we were already looking forward to Holy Week, which took place around this time (Palm Sunday was on the 24th of March Last Year). St. Patrick was the English Born missionary who preached to the Irish. He is best remembered for the Shamrock, which he used to teach the Trinity to the Irish People. St Patrick brought the Christian Message to the People of Ireland, and served as a Bishop to the Irish People.
For anyone who has not watched it, I would recomend watching Lutheran Satire's video with St Patrick: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KQLfgaUoQCw . It's a hillarious video, and great for St. Patrick's Day.
We can learn by Saint Patrick to preach the Gospel to People, and we learn how God can begin in us great things by our simple means. God can start his Good Works in us by coming down to where we are, meeting us where we are, and then from that he can bring us to great heights. Look at what came when St. Patrick preached the Gospel to Ireland. Ireland remained a major and strong Catholic Place, and from that we have St. Patrick to thank. St. Patrick's day had become a way to remember Irish Heritage, especially in the United States. Above all, we must remember the man whom we celebrate today, over any other festivities we may have planned.
St. Patrick's day is a day to remember Christ like any other idea, and to remember the Episcopal and Missionary Zeal of the Bishop and Missionary Patrick, we served the people of Ireland, and brought the gospel to them.
In Christ,
Matthew
